Faculty staff take responsibility for teaching, research and service tasks to carry out the academic work at Makerere University Business School.

The Teaching role

The role of Academic staff is central in addressing the Makerere University Business School mission of enabling the future of our clients through creation and provision of knowledge. The teaching done by Academic staff imparts knowledge to students or learners and also facilitates them with the learning process and in the application of the knowledge in the different fields of study at our different campuses.

The teaching staff contribute greatly to new developments that are taught which later take on another dimension into research activities as they unfold across the globe. Our focus is to see that students master content, prompt their abilities to consider and critique current trends as seen nationally and globally as they study and also during student led discussions

The learners’ development of skill sets is fostered by a number of teaching strategies at Makerere University Business School. Our delivery of lectures has taken on a blended approach of learning involving both the physical and online form

The Research role

The Academic staff engagement in research plays a pivotal role in contribution to the knowledge base at Makerere University Business School. The roles in research depend greatly on our mission of enabling the future of our clients through creation and provision of knowledge.

At MUBS we engage in research for purposes of learning and discovery. The research efforts from the Academic staff are relayed down to the students to enable them develop their knowledge acquisition and understanding of different subject matters and also aid their research while at University.

The support from donors, individuals, organizations, family foundations, private or corporate foundations is directed to support the faculty research activities for the staff and students. Opportunities are available for our researchers to co-author, present at conferences, explore further postgraduate pathways and also contribute to the economic development in the country.

Our students have benefitted from studying from an environment rich in research and findings across different disciplines at Makerere University Business School.

The service role

Although the primary role at the faculties is teaching and research, the faculties also address needs that are local to its clients. As part of the service role, mentorship and advice is given to students as they progress though their different careers. The responsiveness of these needs is greatly valued at our faculties.
