The school has developed this five- year strategic plan (2020-2025) to provide strategic direction that contributes to the achievement of the National Development Plan (NDP) 111 goals. The Plan draws extensively from Uganda’s Vision 2040 and National Development Plan 111 which provides a framework to drive Uganda’s transformation into middle income status by 2040.

The strategic plan identifies the strategies to ensure that the school’s priorities are achieved and also provides a framework for improved service delivery with the Institute. MUBS has a good image, good policies, government support, high quality programmes growing number of PhDs, and good management systems. It has challenges of inadequate funding, old & inadequate infrastructure and inadequate equipment. While the economy is growing and is providing opportunity for MUBS to grow and succeed, the increasing competition from upcoming institutions, ambiguity of the law on the Status of MUBS, More Government Funding of other Public Universities (MUBS 29.6%. MUK 50.19%. KYU 37.8%, MUST 73.3% and Gulu 68.2%) the low economic activities in the country and the Covid 19 pandemic are threats to the MUBS growth. The MUBS vision is to be the benchmark for business, management education, and research in the region. Its mission is to enable the future of its clients.

Its overall goal is leadership in high quality programmes responsive to market needs. MUBS has strategic goals in areas of learning and knowledge transfer, research & Publication, staff and student welfare, growing infrastructure, corporate social responsibility, Skills & business development and internal management. The key activities of the school are described in the various goals/objectives and include teaching and learning, research & publications, staff identifications and development, providing the facilities  for learning, ensuring student/staff welfare development of leaders and entrepreneurs through corporate social responsibility and internal management of the school. MUBS in its strategies intends to develop more staff at the doctoral level, Grow the research and publication output, focus on innovation and nurturing entrepreneurial ideas into business, embrace the blended learning on all academic programmes, improve infrastructure and giving out to the community through the outreach activities
